There are many variations of this classic pattern, such as Courthouse Steps Quilt, Broken Star Log Cabin Quilt and Log Cabin Fan Quilt. We have Amish Quilts in the pattens of Mariners Compass Log Cabin and Log Cabin Star Quilts which capture the importance of the guiding star during the long journey through the rugged countryside, and also the longing of the pioneer woman to set down roots and build her log home. The Mariners Star Quilt is also known as the Compass Star, and speaks of the love of freedom that is inherent in the Plain Peoples rural life, with the pieced work celebrating the road to the north. We also have Amish Quilts in the patterns Stars in Common, Broken Star and Starspin which reflect the expanse of heavens that make up the Amish country sky.
