This Peacock Applique Amish Quilt measures 101 x 114 inches  to fit your Kind or Queen bed.  It was handquilted and is from Lancaster County PA.  There are approximately 6 to 7 handquilted stitches per inch on this Peacock Amish Quilt. The burgundy and green peacocks with their spendid wine and navy calico tails are a wonderful color combination on the background of ivory white, with the burgundy berries and navy flowers on the vine border.

The Amish Quilter usually spends time in the early morning hours quilting, using propane lamps for extra lighting in the winter months when the daylight starts later.  Then, after making the large noon meal for her family, she will find her way back to the quilting frame in the afternoon.  Quilting blends into the family structure, and the quilt frame is usually set up in the main living area, right in the heart of the Amish home. From that vantage point, the quilter can still be a listening ear for an eager grandchild who is ready to share the delights of their day at school, and she can also quilt into the evening while her husband is nearby reading.
