Starting the day off quilting brings a peace and sense of order to Ruth as she then moves on to the different chores that require her attention throughout her day.  An active member of the Old Order Mennonite, or Buggy Mennonite community, Ruth helps to supplement her husbands farm income with quilting and selling her homemade jams and pies.  Since the larger meal is eaten at noon, Ruth can settle back into quilting again in late afternoon, and her view from the window above her quilting frame is of their farm with her husband and sons driving the horse drawn plow through the fields.  Ruth is one of our Old Order Mennonite quilters, also known as an Amish Mennonite quilter.
